WHAT IS A MEDICAL VISA?

A Brazil medical visa is a temporary visa issued to any foreign national who wants to visit Brazil seeking for medical treatment or assistance. The Brazilian Consulate issues this type of visa to anyone who qualifies and has complete and valid documents.
This type of temporary visa is valid for multiple entries. If your stay will exceed 90 days, you must register with the Federal Police within 30 days of first arrival in Brazil.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT FOR YOUR BRAZIL MEDICAL VISA

Your visa application form should be completely filled out and signed by you. Remember that only one visa application form is issued per applicant. In terms of your passport, it has to be valid for at least 6 months with two consecutive blank visa pages available.

You would need to submit a copy of your booked itinerary showing the complete information about your travel to and from Brazil. It should provide further details such as your arrival and departure dates, flight number, itinerary, purchase of ticket and the complete name of the passenger.

Proof of your financial capability to stay in Brazil will also be needed by the Consulate. You may have to present a copy of your bank statement, credit card statement or letter from your employer. All signatures must be legalized by a notary public.

An affidavit by your doctor, which recommends your treatment to the country will also be submitted as further proof. The Consulate may also ask for your proof of financial capability to pay for your medical treatment in Brazil.

You should also ask for a statement from the doctor, clinic or hospital stating that your treatment will not place a burden on the Unified Health Care System of Brazil.
