Uruguay Student Visa

All foreign students planning for higher studies in Uruguay must obtain a student visa before entering the country. To get a student visa, you have to prove the quality of the student and this quality is supported by getting an acceptance letter. All students must apply and get an acceptance letter from the educational institution. Apart from an acceptance letter, the foreign student must meet additional requirements to get the student visa.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A URUGUAY STUDENT VISA

    Foreign students who want to enter the country to attend academic studies or trainings in public or private institutions, the following documents must be submitted:

    • a.Valid passport
    • b.Birth certificate
    • c.Official certificate or letter of acceptance of the educative institution
    • d.If the institute is private, then notary public certificate should be submitted that clearly indicates the existence of the institute such as validity, legal capacity, address, social term, information from the Tax Office and the Social Security Bank. There should be information about the person entitled to sign on the company’s behalf.
    • e.Source of funding statement, which should be notarized or certification issued by a bank that is already established in Uruguay with all relevant information.
    • f.If the student is recipient of scholarships, then the acceptance letter of the educative institution is required along with a written note on the information about scholarship (length and cover of the scholarship) by:
      • 1. The Uruguayan Official Institution involved in the scholarship
      • 2. The foreign consulate in Uruguay
      • 3. A non-governmental organization (Foundation, International organization) then notary public certificate should be submitted which clearly indicates the existence of the institute such as validity, legal capacity, address, social term, information from the Social Security Bank and the Tax Office. There should be information about person/s entitled to sign on behalf of the institute.
